Scientists selected a group of animals in the amount of 49 cats and kitties and carefully studied the behavior of the subjects. After a 15-minute period, cats needed to distinguish a bowl, the food from which had already been eaten, from a bowl that remained filled with tasty slices.

Memory plus emotions
The experiment gave scientists the opportunity to prove that cats are smarter than other animals. The fact is that they have a unique brain function: the ability to work with episodic memory. That is, the animal remembers everything that happens to him, and, if necessary, extracts the necessary information from the episodic memory.
Saho Takagi, a Japanese psychologist from Kyoto University, is convinced that the ability to use episodic memory is directly related to introspective, that is, analytical, brain functions. It is this type of consciousness, for example, that a person possesses. So, cats perfectly remember important details related to emotions: moments of enjoying food, pleasure from relaxation or socializing.
