Winter has come to an end, and this means that it is time to take care that your fur coat could relive the spring-summer-autumn period without serious consequences. In order for the perfect coat of fur, which you, of course, caress and cherish served you for many years, you need to strictly follow a number of rules when storing and cleaning it. Let's see what.

  • It is believed that light fur (arctic fox, mink) tend to acquire sad yellowness over time. Is it always true? No not always. It depends on the quality of the fur itself and, of course, on the conditions of its storage. In no case can not keep a fur coat on the sunny side. It is best to wrap it in a dark blue fabric cover, which you can buy in any fur shop and put it in the closet.
  • Selecting a coat hanger you must indignantly abandon all sorts of metal hangers, or those that have thin ribs. For coats, both long and short, it is best to choose a hanger with soft ribs that will not allow her to lose shape.
  • Any fur coat needs space. When placing your coat in the closet, make sure that it does not come into contact with other clothing. Otherwise, wrinkles and bruises may occur. In case it happened, you need to hold the crumpled places with a damp sponge, and then comb the fur in the direction of the villi.
  • During the warm season, the fur coat must be taken out of the case and aired. Make sure that the direct rays of the sun do not fall on it. Airing is better to arrange once a month. If necessary, comb the fur.
  • Moth - the famous scourge of any fur products. Do not forget to hang in the closet or on the hanger itself a special fragrance from insects and do not forget to change it promptly. Dried orange peels, loose tobacco or geranium leaves can also be used as an anti-salt agent.
  • Very often, fur needs a certain humidity, especially in the hot season. In order to provide the fur with the necessary moisture it is possible to put a container with water in the cabinet. It was noticed that in a month the fur coat “drinks” up to three liters of water.

If you are going to remove the coat in the closet for the warm period of the year, you need to carefully examine it for contamination. If any were found, you can use either dry cleaning or resort to proven home remedies.

  • Often, long floors of coats get dirty from dirty snow. To get rid of these traces and give the bottom of the fur coat the former softness and brilliance, you need to mix egg yolk, glycerin and one tablespoon of vaseline oil. The resulting composition should be rubbed into polluted places, and then, dried them with a soft cloth, combed in the direction of the pile.
  • Light fur is cleaned with a mixture of gasoline and starch. Do not be afraid for fur, gasoline will not harm it. On the contrary, having degreased the polluted places, gasoline will allow your fur coat to serve you more than one year. Refined gasoline can be purchased at any hardware store.
  • If there is a greasy stain on the light fur coat, it can be very easily removed with a mixture of one spoon of liquid ammonia, three spoons of table salt and half a liter of water.
  • Often for cleaning fur coats resort to starch. He is rubbed into the fur until he collects all the dirt, and then with a light tap on the skin, the remnants of starch are knocked out. After the procedure, the coat is shaken and combed out.
  • For each type of fur has its own recommendations. So, it is recommended to wipe a goat fur coat with a soap sponge, and then wash it with plain water. Coat of raccoon and beaver can be cleaned with hot sand. For dark fur coats it is recommended to use ordinary bran (they can be purchased at the pharmacy). The bran is heated in the microwave to 70 degrees, and then rubbed into the fur until they have collected all the possible dirt.
